AP Statistics Score Calculator

The AP Statistics exam has two sections: Multiple Choice (40 questions, 50% of score) and Free Response (6 questions, 50% of score). Each FRQ is worth up to 4 points, with the 6th question being an investigative task. Your raw scores are converted to a composite score out of 100, then to a final AP score of 1-5.

A score of 3 is generally considered passing and may earn college credit at many institutions. However, selective colleges often require a 4 or 5. The national pass rate (score 3+) is typically around 60-65%.

Each FRQ is scored on a 4-point rubric that assesses: (1) correct methodology, (2) proper justification, (3) accurate calculations, and (4) clear communication. Partial credit is awarded, so answer every part even if unsure!

Any graphing calculator is allowed, including TI-83, TI-84, TI-Nspire, and Casio models. Calculators with computer algebra systems (CAS) like the TI-89 are NOT permitted.

The exam covers: Exploring Data (15-23%), Sampling & Experimentation (12-15%), Probability (10-20%), and Inference (30-40%). Be prepared for real-world scenarios and data analysis.

The AP exam fee is approximately $98 per exam, though fee reductions are available for eligible students. Some schools also cover the cost for students.

AP scores are typically released in early July (usually the second week of July). You can access your scores online through the College Board website.
